World Poker Tour at The Borgata for Borgata Poker Classic

Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa announced that it will begin 2007 by hosting the second annual Borgata Winter Open. The tournament will kick off on January 17th and end with the Borgata Poker Classic, a World Poker Tour event, set to take place from January 26-30, 2007.

The Winter Poker Open is the WPT's 6th time with Borgata. Last year, Borgata's Poker Open saw a record 540 players, with a prize pool of over $5 million.

The Winter Open is known for hosting a slew of poker greats, including Michael "The Grinder" Mizrahi, Shannon Shorr, Daniel Negreanu (2004 WPT Player of the Year and winner of the 2004 Borgata Poker Open), Phil "The Unabomber" Laak, David Williams, Antonio Esfandiari, David "The Dragon" Pham and Maciek "Michael" Gracz.

It has also played host to a number of Hollywood celebrities, such as Jennifer Tilly and Shannon Elizabeth.

This year promises to be one of the grandest tours of the game of poker, with Borgata's newly renovated 21,500 sq ft poker room. The poker room now features an 18-table High Limit Room with free food service. Moreover, Borgata's Poker Room now also has a nine-table tournament area and a 58-table Main Poker Room.
