The 6th season of EPT started in Kyiv, Ukraine instead of Moscow, Russia. The Russian Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism issued an order in July 20th that removes the status of poker as a sport.

The leader for Day 1a of the APT Macau Main Event was David Stiecke. The tournament was held at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino.

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu picked Phil Hellmuth and John Juanda as team members for the Caesars Cup. The Caesars Cup will begin on September 26th, 2009.

The APPT Macau is off to a great start with almost 1,000 players participating in the festival. Aside from that, the APPT Seoul will be postponed due to construction problems at the 7-Luck Casino.

The chip leader going to the six player table in the WPT Legends of Poker on August 25th, 2009 is Todd Terry. The tournament is at the Bicycle Casino in L.A.

The current leader in the final 6 players at the WPT Legends of Poker Event is Kevin Schaffel. Schaffel said that he hopes to do well in the event since it has a top heavy structure.

PokerStars signed 'November Niner' Joe Cada on August 27th, 2009. Cada said that he is very excited to represent PokerStars at the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table.

Irish poker pro Dermot Blain won the APPT Macau Main Event. Blain won a total of $538,700.

Poker pro Celia Lin won the Macau Cup Main Event. She defeated Sammy 'Xiuming' Wang to take home a total of $400,000.
