Poker Pros Participates at Charity Poker Event for Homestead at Boulder City

Poker pro Justin Young and a group of professional poker pros came together to play a charity poker event that benefited the Homestead at Boulder City on July 23rd, 2009. Operated by the Volunteers of America, the Homestead at Boulder City is a first-class assisted living establishment but over the last two weeks the establishment has lost eighteen elderly residents.

Homestead at Boulder City's activities director Deborah Patterson said that being a volunteer in the facility is very fulfilling since you are able to help other persons. But these individuals and their families became like their own family so it is very difficult for them when they are in trouble. Patterson added that they are in dire need of additional monetary funding and support.

The 1st yearly "Forget Me Not" charity event was open to the public. Aside from Young, poker celebrities like Jennifer Harman, Bertrand Grospelier, Lee Watkinson, Jeff Madsen, Lacey Jones, Pamela Brunson, Marco Traniello, Cyndy Violette and Jon Friedberg. The M Resort Spa and Casino hosted the event and was presented by Rockwell Watches.

The buy-in cost for the event is $200 +$20 with $30 unlimited rebuys in the first 3 levels. Homestead at Boulder City received 50% of the overall proceeds while the remaining half will be given to the participants making the final table. Aside from the 1st place prize money, the champion received a Rockwell Time Sports watch.
