Jerry Yang is the 2007 World Series of Main Event Champion

On July 18, 2007, at 3:45 a.m. poker player Jerry Yang was able to win the heads-up showdown with Tuan Lam at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Yang was able to defeat Lam with his gutshot straight card hand and become the new World Series of Poker Main Event champion for 2007.

Yang, a 39 year-old resident of Temecula, California spent $225 to pay the buy-in cost into a live satellite tournament for the 2007 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas held at the Penchanga Resort and Casino. Yang won $8.25 million.

Yang dominated the entire poker game play at the final table with his aggressive game play and aggressive calls. He eliminated almost all of the final table players in an awesome run that saw Yang progress from 8th place at the beginning of the final table to the 2007 WSOP Main Event champion.

Jerry Yang also plans to give 10% of his winning to 3 charities: the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Feed the Children and the Ronald McDonald House.

Yang hopes that his donation will make a big difference in the lives of its beneficiaries. Runner-up Tuan Lam, a Vietnamese immigrant who now resides in Toronto, Canada, won $4,840,981 million.
