Once again, Foxwoods Resort Casino is hosting the prestigious and much awaited World Poker Finals and the World Poker Tour. The 3 week event returns to New England beginning October 25th.
The tournament is expected to draw poker's biggest stars, masses of amateur poker players, thousands of fans and the press.
A $15 million prize pool is expected for this year's event. Last year's Texas No-Limit Hold'em winner, Nick Schulman, the youngest in the history of the World Poker Tour, took home $2.1 million from the prize pool of $12.3 million.
The finals will be held beginning November 16th with the Professional Poker Tour event, to be followed by the WPT World Poker Finals grand finale which will take place on November 17th. The final tables will be played before a live audience with cameras from the Travel Channel rolling.
"The prestige, participants and prize pool continue to grow each year," said Terry Chiaradio, newly appointed Director of Poker Operations at Foxwoods. "We're expecting more than 6,000 entries and based on last year's winner, it's anyone's game."
Foxwoods Resort Casino is a charter member of the World Poker Tour and hosts the only WPT-branded poker room in the US, which is also the largest poker room in the country housed inside a casino.
