As of May 18, 2007, in contrast to the known fairy tales of our time, "The Dragon" is the victor this time around. At the Mirage Poker Showdown on the Las Vegas strip, Poker Pro David "The Dragon" Pham edged out Eric "EFro" Froelich for the Heads-Up Poker Championship with a $5,000 buy-in cost.
As a past Magic: The Gathering Player, Froelich may have better luck using his "Rashida Scalebane" compared to any card in the normal card deck.
The Rashida Scalebane card is a dragon slayer who has dedicated his life to slaying dragons after being frightened by one during childhood.
In the first head-to-head match, after getting into an early lead, Froehlich got unlucky with a heads-up card hand when he got all of the chips of Pham in the middle of the poker game with his pocket kings only to see his opponent put down aces.
Froelich would eventually win the first heads-up match but for the next two heads-up, he would not be able to get any breaks as Pham beat him with his aggressive style of play.
David Pham won in the end and took home a total of $155,200 in cash prizes and a slot at the WPT Championship at the Mirage poker tournament, which began on May 19, 2007.
