Five of the best poker players in the world have already confirmed their participation in the Asian Poker Classic, which will be televised and held in India, specifically in the coastal resort of Goa from March 1-5, 2007. Over $1 million will be the guaranteed jackpot prize in the tournament with a minimum of $250,000 in overlay, making the Asian Poker Classic one of the largest and richest poker tournaments in the whole world.
These five players are Ram Vaswani, Arshad Hussain, Surinder Sunar, Lee Nelson and Mel Judah.
Ram Vaswani is a member of the Hendon Mob. His total winnings already amount to $2.3 million and he has already made his way into 3 final tables in the European Poker Tournament.
Arshad Hussain was included in the 2006 European Rankings after a series of outstanding poker game performances.
Surinder Sunar is a poker player from Wolverhampton who has already earned about $822,631 from the Paris Grand Prix in the 2004 World Poker Tour.
Lee Nelson, a New Zealand native, has been a top poker player in both Australia and New Zealand for almost 7 years now. Back in 2006, he became the Australian Poker Champion, earning over $1 million.
Last but not least is Mel Judah, who resides in the UK but is a native of Australia. Judah won various bracelets in the WSOP of 1989 and 1997 and is the winner of the 2003 Legends of Poker Tournament, where he took home about $579,375. He also made it to the final table of the 1997 WSOP main event.
