WPT Debuts Ladies Poker Event

On January 9th, 2008, with the increasing female poker players in land- and online poker tournaments, the world poker tour has widened their female offerings for every tour with the debut of the official World Poker Tour Ladies League and No Limit Texas Holdem Poker event. With the poker buy-in costs starting from $300 to $1,500, the tournament provides a good opportunity for amateurs and pros and to test their skill in poker at a tough and top class event.

The female poker players will also have the opportunity to win a World Poker Tour title at each event and a slot in the WPT Ladies Championship. Robyn Moder, the executive vice president of the World Poker Studios that by featuring the World Poker Tour ladies league, female poker players will have the chance to prove that they do have the skill that can be compared to top male poker players.

The first season of the World Poker Tour league will start on January 20th, 2008 at the Borgata Hotel and Casino Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey and will showcase additional events at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Commerce Casino in Los Angeles and Bay 101 in San Jose, California. It will also include a $1,500 championship event at the Bellagio.

The final table will be broadcast from the WPT set in GSN. The champion of the event will win a cash prize and the title for the WPT Ladies Championship title. The WPT League has collaborated with the Susan G. Komen for the cure to raise funds for breast cancer research with the events.
