Kitty Kuo Wins the Macau Poker Cup

The game of poker's popularity continues to improve in the Asian gaming Mecca of Macau, China. The PokerStars Macau at the Grand Lisboa hosted another success Macau Poker Cup on October 27th, 2009 as 247 poker players vied for the Red Dragon championship and a portion of the HKD $2.3 million cash pool.

PokerStars sponsored poker player Kitty Kuo from Taipei, Taiwan take home the title and the HKD $550,000 1st place cash prize by defeating PokerStars Team Pro Asia's Tae Joon Noh in the heads-up showdown.

The field also featured PokerStars Team Pro Asia members Celina Lin, Jonathan Lin and Raymond Wu, 2008 PokerStars APPT Macau High Roller champion Nam Le and two-time World Champion Johnny Chan. 2009 world series of poker Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro also participated in the tournament.

The 247 participants and HKD $2.3 million prize pool surpassed the previous Chinese record of 168 participants and HKD $1.6 million respectively. The regional poker tournament series will finish up with the HKD $20,000 Macau Poker Cup Championship on December 12th, 2009-December 20th, 2009 featuring a guaranteed cash pool of HKD $2 million.

Players can qualify for a slot on PokerStars. PokerStars Macau also features a weekly HKD $2,500 tournament with an HKD $2,500 tournament with an HKD $90,000 guaranteed cash pool.
