Gafford Wins IP Poker Classic in Biloxi

Louisiana resident, Dave Gafford, who showed aggressive play and won first place in the IP Casino Poker Classic held on October 29th.

Josh McCallie of Dallas had a 6-1 chip advantage over Gafford when Brad Isbill of Alabama, third placer at the time, was ousted from the final table. Gafford made about 40 minutes of intense poker play before he could take McCallie's chips.

Upon winning Biloxi's first poker tournament championship event, the tired yet elated Gafford gave his wife Rebecca a hug, lifted his young daughter in the air, and gave high-fives to his young sons.

Gafford won a multitude of prizes including a total of $51,122.80 in cash, a $25,000 seat at the world poker tour in Las Vegas and $3,000 for expenses.

The 2 final players played differently. Gafford kept his eyes shaded and refrained from showing emotion. McCallie on the other hand, would rock his chair on its back legs, or place his chin on his wrist when about to decide on a difficult wager.

Isbill, 27, is the youngest of the 3 final players. The IP Poker Classic in Biloxi was his first big tournament participation. "I'm sick at my stomach," he said. "I played way too aggressive."

The IP casino is scheduled to hold the second Poker Classic from January 22nd to February 3rd.
