Mirage Poker Tournament Kicks Off with the Mirage Poker Showdown

The World Poker Tour Championship with a $25,000 buy-in cost, held at the Bellagio Casino signaled the end of the 5th season of the World Poker Tour. Nonetheless, fans of the tour will be ecstatic to know that the next season of the World Poker Tour will begin immediately.

The Mirage Poker Showdown, which began on May 8, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada marks the 6th season of the World Poker Tour Championship. 10 poker events will be held from May 8-23, 2007, 7 of which will be no-limit hold'em poker games.

A championship poker tournament with a buy-in cost of $10,000 will begin on May 23, 2007. Play starts with a no-limit poker event with a $540 buy-in cost. The other 3 poker no-limit hold'em tournaments will include 2 tournaments with a $540 and $1,080 buy-in cost and a heads-up poker event with a $5,200 buy-in cost.

Back in 2006, the poker main event was attended by 384 players and produced a prize pool of about $3,724,800. The winner of the event was Stanley Weiss. He took home a total of $1.3 million in total prizes. Other well known players like David Williams, Robert Mizrachi and Charidimos Demetriou made the final table for that poker event.
