Last February 18th, 2007, after being the champion of the No-Limit Hold'Em Poker Championship held in Oklahoma at the Cherokee Casino, Hal Kirkpatrick from Stillwell KS, defeated the previous champions in the "Champions main Tournament" of the Oklahoma State Poker Championship. Kirkpatrick's prize in winning the tournament was a seat at the World poker tournament that will be held in Las Vegas with a $25,000 buy-in.
Kirkpatrick said that he really had an unbelievable day and he is very happy about his win. The Champions tournament for this year ended at the Oklahoma State Championship Poker and has exceeded all expectations by breaking the previous prize money. The poker tournament has drawn over 3,500 players and it had about a total of $1.5 million in the prize pool.
The Director of Poker and Table Games, Rick O'Connell said that they are proud of their accomplishment and success of the recently concluded state poker championship. He added that they are now beginning their preparations for their yearly Scotty Nguyen Tournament that will start in the middle of May and it is guaranteed to be another big hit.
