Australian Poker League Launches the Pro-Series

On February 28, 2007, the Australian Poker League announced that their YCW Leagues Club located on Canambe Street will begin holding a pro-series event every Friday which will start at 7:15 p.m. The poker-series event will have a $10 buy-in game, which will allow players in the area to hone their poker skills and play for the chance of joining the $25,000 pro-series monthly championship tournaments.

The inaugural pro-series event held at the White Bull Hotel last Monday night was won by Robert McDowell. He was able to beat out 60 other players in one of the biggest poker events ever held at the Armidale. The runner-up of the event was Nick Rawson. The defending Guyra Champion Matthew Dinie finished in 3rd place. Tuesday Poker action saw about 100 players competing in the event.

The top 3 finishers of the tournament were James Ahoy, Tim Hayes and Michael Ward. A knock-out system was added into the mix to enhance the playing experience of the poker players. Benny Wilson was able to win 22 players' chips in order to become the Armidale first ever knock-out champion.

Free poker games are available at the Armidale Ex-Services Club every Tuesday. To participate, players have to register at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. game. To play poker at the White Bull on Sundays, players have to register at 2:30 p.m. for every 3:00 p.m. poker game. The Pro-Series poker event is held every Monday at the White Bull Hotel and every Friday at the YCW Leagues Club.
