The Small Town Poker Tour will be holding its 2007 Pro Am Series on January 17th at the Heymann Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The Pro Am Series is open to poker players of all levels the world over. The winner of the event will be moving on to the STPT World Pro Am Championship where he or she will get the chance to win a $5,000 Visa Gift Card and a tournament championship ring. The top ten finishers for the event will also receive prizes.
"We are eager to bring this event to Lafayette," said STPT Executive Producer, Mark Fracalossi.
"Poker is a great sport and I can't wait to see the talented players from the south. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for the local charities, plus give the players a great experience," Fracalossi added.
Proceeds from the 2007 STPT Pro Am Series will benefit the United Way of Acadiana. As the world's largest amateur poker tour, the STPT is also committed to regularly raising money for charity.
"We work with many celebrities and charities who want to use poker as a tool to raise money for their cause," Fracalossi said. Many professional poker players, associations and charities worldwide endorse the STPT. STPT is an organizational member of the governing body for tournament poker worldwide, the World poker tournament.
