The 2008 WSOPE Main Event, presented by Betfair.com, will take place at the Empire Casino in Leicester Square in London, England for the next couple of weeks, starting with a brand new event, the 1,500 pounds No-Limit Holdem.

The 2008 World Series of Poker will have four bracelet events including one of the biggest Main Event buy-ins anywhere in the world. The complete schedule of the WSOPE are: September 19th, 2008: Event#1-1,500 pounds-No Limit Holdem Day One (Four Day event/two opening days).

Obrestad won one million pounds, the biggest prize captured by a female player in event history.

Obrestad, together with other poker pros like Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Gus Hansen and other will participate in the event. WSOP Director of Marketing Ty Stewart said that they have a lot of expectations for the 2nd year of the WSOPE and a lot of players are already registering for the event. Ben Fried, the head of poker for Betfair said that they are happy with the positive feedback regarding the WSOPE and that they are committed in ensuring that it will become the most successful tournament in Europe.
