Yahoo to Join the Online Poker Industry

On April 27, 2007, the search engine Yahoo is finally joining the world of online poker with the launch of their new poker site. Yahoo has signed a partnership with Boss Media AB and St. Minver LTD.

The 2 businesses collaborated in order to provide poker software as well as the other services that are needed by Yahoo. The poker site is being launched in the U.K., but it will be accessible to any country that allows online poker. Although this is the first time that an online giant has joined the poker industry, time will tell when other online giants will follow the current trend, since the industry is too valuable to miss out on. Yahoo possess a database and the marketing capability to change the landscape of online poker.

Yahoo's performance will also be closely watched by other online staples, like Google and MSN. If Yahoo does what is expected of them and attracts the majority of the poker customers, it will not take long before the other online organizations follow Yahoo's move.
