Jim Davenport Finishes 22nd at WPT Grand Prix de Paris

World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris drew to a close with PokerRoom.com's Jim Davenport finishing in 22nd place out of the 232 players who participated in the event. Davenport bagged winnings amounting to $16, 500.

WPT Grand Prix de Paris was held at the Aviation club in Paris. This was Davenport's first time to compete in a tournament overseas, and his best since closing a deal with PokerRoom.com. Davenport has been a Poker Room's "Poker Pro" endorser since March 2006.

"I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to compete at the world famous Aviation Club in Paris, " said Davenport. "PokerRoom.com has not only given me a rare opportunity to see the world, but I have had the time to sharpen my skills while competing against others online, preparing myself for major tournaments such as the World Series of Poker."

Davenport will be endorsing the poker site for a year, and was awarded $250, 000 for the deal. The twenty six year old poker pro has since played in a couple of major tournaments, including other World Poker Tour events. Jim is also a part of Team PokerRoom.com aside from being an endorser. He joins a group of more than a hundred up and coming poker players that represent the online poker site in the poker world's most prestigious tournaments. Poker enthusiasts can land a spot on the team by joining PokerRoom.com and playing on the site. This earns them the chance to be able to represent PokerRoom.com and gain entry to various major land-based tournaments.

Team PokerRoom.com has the World Series of Poker lined up next, scheduled for July 28 to August 10 2006. The 2006 WSOP is at present being held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Team members are hoping to land a spot in the prestigious WSOP, considered by most as the granddaddy of poker competitions, with stellar amounts of prize money at stake. Hopefuls may log on to www.pokerroom.com for the chance to win the remaining slots. Each slot is worth $13, 500 including travel expenses, hotel and tournament buy-in and activities with the rest of the team.

Next on the list for Davenport are tournaments in Barcelona, London, Melbourne and Monte Carlo.
