The Final Table of the 2009 WSOP Champions Invitational

On June 1st, 2009, the WSOP Champions Invitational played down to the to the final table last night at the Rio Casino and Hotel and it was 2001 WSOP Main Event champion Carlos Mortensen who grab the reins as the chip leader. Of the twenty former Main Event champions who started the day, ten players will return to face off for the 1970 Corvette and Binion Trophy.

After Mortensen, the playing field of famous poker pros includes reigning 2008 world series of poker Peter Eastgate as well as poker legends Doyle Brunson and Dan Harrington. Short-stacked poker pro Phil Hellmuth-as has now seemed to become the norm-has been able to make it on Day 2, even with only 1,125 chips to his name.

The full chip counts are as follows: Carlos Mortensen with 42,375 chips, Tom McEvoy with 31,000 chips, Jim Bechtel with 30,475 chips, Doyle Brunson with 20,250 chips, Dan Harrington with 19,975 chips, Peter Eastgate with 18,425 chips, Huck Seed with 15,400 chips, Robert Varkonyi with 13,450 chips, Berry Johnston with 7,625 chips and Phil Hellmuth with 1,125 chips.
