The 4th MBA Poker Championships at the Caesars Palace Las Vegas

On January 12th, 2009, Harrah's Entertainment announced the 4th yearly MBA Poker Championships, which will take place on January 16th, 2009 until January 18th, 2009 during the Martin Luther King Holiday at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. The sponsors include consulting firm Booz and Company and recovery drink Aftershot. Harrah's MBA Poker event is a one-of-a kind recruiting event that gives candidate and recruiters the chance to know one another in a social setting.

The recruiters will also see how the candidates perform under pressure, according to Nikki Rath, the Senior Manager of Campus Recruiting for Booz and Company. Rath said that outstanding poker players think quickly at any given situation, possess a high quantitative aptitude and tend to be good at judging people-all characteristics that are highly prized by their firm. For that reason alone, they will be leveraging this tournament to offer on-site interviews to rookie MBA players who will amaze them throughout the weekend.

Brad Warga, the vice president of talent acquisition, Harrah's Entertainment said that they have achieved worldwide recognition of the world series of poker brand to attract MBA poker enthusiasts and spectators alike to Caesars Palace Las Vegas for what a one-of-a kind recruiting events in the United States. He added that MBA are more creative than ever in the ways they seek employment and they are very hopeful that despite the financial crisis, this year's MBA event will continue to attract top class MBA to Las Vegas.

Aftershot Chief Executive Officer David Spit, himself a 2006 graduate of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business said that aside from recruiting opportunities, MBA Poker gives unprecedented sponsor access to young, talented players. The 2008 cash pool totaled close to thirty thousand dollars in cash and prizes. Over one thousand MBA students and alumni from some of the country's best universities like Harvard, Stanford, UCLA and others-gathered at Caesars Palace.

The MBA poker weekend include a welcome reception, poker events, wine tasting, brunch with recruiters and a club night at Pure. Over the past 3 years, thirty thousand dollars from the cash pool has been given to the Alzheimer's Association.
