2007 World Series of Poker Details to be Released in January

Harrah's Casino Hotel has announced that the 2007 world series of poker (WSOP) will begin on June 1st, with the final table scheduled for July 17th.

Yet despite the announcement, other details were not revealed, making players wary of finalizing their summer plans. Organizers however, promised to release details this month.

"There have to be some logistics worked out and that will take a few more weeks," said Media Director for the World Series of poker Nolan Dalla.

"You (players) can expect something by mid to late part of this month."

According to Dalla, WSOP officials are still in the process of finalizing the exact number of tournaments hosted at the 2006 WSOP held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel-Casino.

"There may be quite an increase," Dalla said.

"There is also a possibility that the number will increase by just a few."

Dalla also let on that the delay in detail announcements had nothing to do with Harrah's sale to 2 private-equity firms.

WSOP spokesperson, Gary Thompson, said that this year's WSOP will take place much earlier than in 2006 in order to avoid schedule conflicts with post-season major league baseball.

The organizers said that players who will participate in the WSOP can expect the tournament to be completed before the end of July.
