UB to Host Fundraising Poker Events for Charity Organizations

Ultimate Bet (UB) has introduced a series of online fundraising poker tournaments created to benefit a number of non-profit organizations during these tough times.

Second Sundays will feature daily scheduled $10 poker tournaments every second Sunday through June 2010 where poker players will compete for UB prizes, cash prizes, Monster JAMZ and Rockwell Time products and entries to well-known UB poker events.

Each poker event also features a second-chance entry to a bonus freeroll for a shot at another $1,025 in various UB event entries, taking place the next day.

The fundraisers will run on Absolute Poker and the proceeds will go to charities like the Road 2 Recovery's Injured Riders Fund, the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

UB poker pro Annie Duke said on March 23rd, 2010 that they are facing a challenging economy and charitable groups are experiencing a drastic drop in donations. Although some individuals are sympathetic to the goals of charitable organizations, they have cut back on their expenditures.

Duke said that Absolute Poker and UB are worldwide communities and its members have been helpful of non-profit efforts in the past. She added that this grassroots effort could inspire more individuals to join their community in order to make a difference in the world through poker.
