Tony Hachem Wins the ANZPT Perth Main Event

Poker pro Tony Hachem continued his domination of the Australian poker circuit, winning the Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Perth main event.

Hachem outwitted a field of 221 players at Perth's Burswood Entertainment Complex to take home the $132,750, the largest playing field ever assembled for a poker event in Perth. Tony Hachem is the reigning Player of the Year in the ANZPT after cashing in four of five poker tournaments last season, but until now, a win had escaped him.

Hachem said that he is very happy with his win since he has come so close winning in the past tournaments that he has participated in. He added that it is a great feeling to finally have a title to his name.

Hachem, who was once only famous for being the brother of 2005 world series of poker Main Event champion Joe Hachem than his own skills in the game, started his season with a 7th place finish in Adelaide and after booking his first poker tournament win in Perth, his astounding run now includes cashing in all but one poker tournament since the ANZPT started in February 2009.

The win also places Hachem at the top of the ANZPT Player of the Year leader board with five poker tournaments remaining in this season. This was the first time that the tour had stop in Perth. The next stop of the ANZPT is Sydney on April 21st, 2010-April 25th, 2010.
