The German European Poker Tour Open

On January 30th, 2008, the poker event in Germany is currently on progress at the Casino Hohensyburg in Dortmund, signaling the start of the fourth season of the European Poker Tour with a lot of players participating in the poker tournament.

Last year's champion Andreas Hoivold from Norway won the very first European Poker Tour German Open, the largest and most prestigious EPT event ever held in the continent, winning 672,00 euros or an equivalent of $880,737 after outwitting 493 players in the four day event that features Texas Holdem Poker.

The first day of the event saw 198 participants including top professionals from all over the world like winner Katja Thater, Juha Helppi, Alex Kravchenko, Swedish pro Mats Iremark, Gino Alacqua, Julian Thew, online poker pro Sorel Mizzi and young Italian poker pro Dario Minieri.

Minieri and Mizzi made an early exit on the tournament. Out of the initial 198 participants, only seventy-five survived the first day like Helppi and Iremark. The 2nd starting day began on January 30th, 2008 which included the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Noan Boeken, Luca Pagano and others. The final table was scheduled on February 2nd, 2008.

The German Poker Open is the seventh poker event to be held in this season of the European Poker Tour and follows in the heels of the poker events in Barcelona, London, Baden, Dublin, Prague and Paradise Island that is located in the Bahamas.
