FedEx Delivery Guy Gets Chance at WSOP

Mark Schwartz, a FedEx delivery man from Lake Havasu City, has won a spot in the 2006 World Series of Poker by winning an online satellite tournament through PartyPoker.com.

The event is being held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas this year and Schwartz is hoping to take his share of the $100 million prize pool.

"It's basically the only sporting event in the world where Joe Lunch Bucket can compete against Shaq, Michael Jordan, (and) Wayne Gretzsky on almost an even basis," he said of the game.

Schwartz is a believer of betting aggressively and does not rely much on facial expressions.

"I have nothing invested. I'm going to relax, have fun, enjoy the experience and be very, very aggressive," he said. "I'm going to try to catch a bunch of scared, nervous people early, see if I can push them around and try to build up some kind of a stack."

But he said that he will keep guard of himself, being careful not to be overaggressive.

"But I'm not going to be standing there with a bat on my shoulder and have an umpire say, 'Strike three.' If I go down, it's going to be in a blaze of glory," he said.

He also views being a newbie as an both an advantage and a disatvantage at the same time. "It's an advantage to be an unknown, but it's a disadvantage because of the lack of experience," Schwartz said.

Schwartz even got off to a good start when he used the $1,000 pocket money from PartyPoker.com as betting money for online poker games. That money has now more than doubled at $2,400.

"I don't have a clue," he said modestly of how far he will go in the tournament. "All I know is I won a seat in the biggest tournament in the world. Wish me luck."
