WSOP Main Event to be Held on Different Days

On May 4th, 2008, Harrah's Entertainment, the holder of the world series of poker, announced that they will hold the WSOP Main Event in a series of event over the months, rather than in days. The WSOP Main Event will start on July 3rd, 2008 but will still have nine gamblers at the final event of the main event.

The action will then resume on November 10th with the elimination continuing during the day and possibly up to November 11th, 2008 to determine the champion of the event. The revise schedule is made to allow ESPN to show the final table in a same day schedule. The rest of the WSOP will start on May 30th, 2008 until July 14th, 2008. ESPN will start showing the event on July 22nd, 2008 and will continue until the new date for the final table.

World Series of Poker tournament Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said that with the new schedule, their fans can immediately know who won the event instead of waiting for the event to be aired in a later date. The main event will take place at the Rio All-Star Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Almost ten thousand players participate at the WSOP Main Event every year.
