On May 6th, 2009, the world poker tour (WPT) is set to continue its world expansion with another new WPT stop in Slovakia later this year. Earlier in 2009, the World Poker Tour added another non-televised poker stops in Marrakech, Morocco on October 12th, 2009-October 19th, 2009; Barcelona, Spain on June 24th, 2009-June 30th, 2009 and Venice, Italy starting today until May 10th, 2009.
Just a few short weeks after the World Poker Tour Merit Cyprus Classic, a $10,000 buy-in poker event at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino facility on September 6th, 2009 until September 12th, 2009, was added to the schedule, the World Poker announced its intention to make a stop in Slovakia. WPT Slovakia, a four thousand euros event, has been scheduled for August 31st, 2009 until September 5th, 2009 in Bratislava, Slovakia Republic.
WPT Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Lipscomb said that their main goal is to bring absolute and entertaining value to their customers and World Poker Tour Enterprises shareholders as the expand their worldwide. WPT's continued expansion all over the world did take some hit earlier this year when the group announced that WPT China operations were closing down after 2 years in the red.
