After the UK courts decided that poker is a game of chance and not primarily of skill, Virgin Poker has issued a challenge to prove otherwise.
Simon Burridge, CEO of Virgin Poker stated, "Whilst we do not dispute the details of the recent court case, the idea that poker is primarily a game of chance is preposterous. Poker is primarily a game of skill, with an element of chance - this is what makes poker so exciting to play; a total novice can beat a world champion in a single hand. However, in the long term it is skill that is the decisive factor in playing poker... and we're willing to put our money where our mouth is and prove this."
Burridge added, "Virgin Poker would like to challenge anyone who believes that poker is a game of luck to play our professional players over 5 heads-up matches. If they manage to beat our pros we will donate $1,000 to a charity of their choice".
For the challenge, Virgin Poker is inviting first time poker players to submit their applications via email to poker@virgingames.com by February 28th along with a brief explanation of why they think they will win poker games by sheer luck.
Virgin will then draw the select players and have them play a series of 5 heads-up with a professional poker player. Virgin Poker will be donating $1,000 to the charity of the players' choice should they beat Virgin's poker pros.
