On June 21st, 2008, the Events #32 and #33 at the 39th edition of the world series of poker in Las Vegas came to a close as poker pro Chris Ferguson narrowly missed winning a WSOP bracelet, but Jose Luis Velador taking home the major cash prize. Poker pro Velador, who is from California, won the Event #32-a $1,500 buy-in cost No Limit Holdem event, edging out a total playing field of 2,304 players and his final opponent on the heads-up showdown Anthony Signore to take home a total of $573,374 and a WSOP bracelet.
Velador dominated most of the game although Signore almost turned the game around at some point. Signore won a total of $366,387. The other players in the final table of the Event #32 are Osmin Dardon, Jae Chung, Shane Stacey, Dean Bui, Danny Georges, Utsab Saha and Justin Hoffman.
In the Event #33 of the 2008 World Series of Poker-a $5,000 buy-in cost 7 Card Stud Hi-Low World Championship, a total player field of 261 players started out but was scaled down to a final table of nine players which include Chris Ferguson, Bob Lauria, Marcel Luske, Steve Sung, Annie Duke, Alessio Isaia, Sebastian Ruthenberg and Bob Beveridge.
In the end, Sebastian Ruthenberg won the WSOP bracelet from Chris Ferguson during the heads-up showdown and $202,405 in cash prize.
