Vela Wins 2007 World Poker Finals

On November 14th, 2007, two former winners, Nick Schulman and Nenad Medic, made the final of the 2007 World Poker Finals or the (WPF) but neither of the two managed to win a second title.

Mike "MVP" Vela win the championship and $1,704,986 million. Nenad Medic was the center of attention at the start of the final table. The winner of the 2006 World Poker Finals begin the final game as the short stack and was in danger of busting out when he was all-in possessing K-Q against Tom Dwan's Q-Q.

A King on the river saves Medic and afterward he was able to bust out Mark Weitzman in 6th place and was back in the game. Vela edged out Mike White in 5th position with K-T against White's seven-six. A King on the turn finished off White. Vela then eliminated Dwan in 4th place with K-J against Dwan's A-K. A jack on the river sealed Dwan's fate.

Nenad Medic was the next one to bust out when he moved all with an A-7 and got called by Vela who had an A-J. A jack came during the turn and another jack on the river finished off the defending champion. Vela fought it out against 2005 World Poker Finals champion Nick Schulman as a big chip leader and it did not take him long to finish the job.

Schulman moved all-in with his pocket fives and Vela called all in with an A-Q. Vela then flopped with a two pair and no good card came for Schulman, who had to be contented with a 2nd place finish and an $864,652 prize.
