On March 25th, 2008, the 6th season of the World Poker Tour will debut at the World Poker Challenge at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. The buy-in cost for the World Poker Tournament Challenge has grown this year for the very first time since the World Poker Challenge join under the WPT or the World Poker Tour in 2003.
The $7,500 buy-in cost represents a fifty percent growth compared with the previous years. Despite the decision to offer a bigger buy-in cost, it appears that the latest staging of the WPC will be the last one to be shown in the World Poker Tour. When the World Poker Tour recently announced their line-up for the Season 7, the Reno tournament was missing from its usual line-up by the end of March.
Last year's World Poker Challenge final table represents a good year for J.C. Tran. After reaching the final table of the World Poker Tour television table but failing to win four times, including a 2nd place finish a month before at a tournament at commerce. J.C. Tran won a total of $683,473 when he defeated Juan Carlos Alvarado in the heads-up showdown. Alvarado won a total of $366,798.
The World Poker Challenge is the second to the last stop of the season for the World Poker Tour. After next week's poker event at Foxwoods, the season will culminate with the twenty-five thousand dollars World Poker Tour Championship.
