On May 31st, 2009, poker pro Thang Luu accomplished what few other poker players have done before him late Sunday night, taking home back-to-back titles at the 00.
Luu edged out a record of 917 participants to win the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo, defending the title he won back in 2008. Luu said that it feels better than his first win. He added that he just tried to play with the best of his abilities even he is short on chips. What makes Luu's triumph so astounding is not his back-to-back wins, but he also finished in 2nd place to Frankie O'Dell in a $2,000 Omaha eight event at the 2007 world series of poker.
The final table on Sunday was no piece of cake, as poker pros Freddy Deeb, Jordan Rich and Ed Smith presented a serious challenge. Luu came into the final table of the event 3rd place in total chips but managed to hold a slight chip lead in the heads-up showdown against Smith before winning the bracelet.
