Strip Poker Championship Attempts to Get Into Guinness Book

The idea of a big strip poker event came up as an April Fool's Day joke from an Irish bookmaker, but now the proposal to hold the world's biggest strip poker event will become a reality on August 19.

Paddy Power's idea was just a jest, but it received so much interest that the bookmaker thought, why not? Now, hundreds have sent out requests to take part, and at the moment, over 50 contestants are already confirmed.

The Dublin based company will be holding the event in London, at the CafA Royal. The winner will be receiving a "Golden Fig Leaf" trophy plus 10,000 pounds in cash.

The company is targeting 200 poker 'buffs' to join the event, those with the will to become the first ever World Strip Poker champion, and a chance to be included in the Guinness Book of Records.

"This will be the most fun you can have with your clothes on or off!" Paddy Power said in a statement for the tournament.

"The plan is that at the end of the tournament one person will be left with clothes on and he or she will be the winner. Basically, when you get naked you are thrown out," he said.

"At the moment there is no official Guinness world record. I think there is one self-proclaimed record from Estonia but this will be the biggest one."
