On May 30, 2007, a lot of Betfair Poker participants may be feeling that they have received some luck of the Irish as they fly to Cork, Ireland that week to participate in the Irish Poker Classic held at the Macau Sporting Club.
A lot of players who go by their unique nicknames, like tamboy, NORMYLAD, pot is back, chip007, antonyg and CIPO70, have qualified to participate in the tournament at Betfair Poker.
The players have received a $2,600 package, including the buy-in for the Irish Poker Classic Festival Main Event and the money for the players' travel and accommodations.
Betfair has also transformed the Irish Poker Classic into a threedom pass event, which means that if one of those players makes it to the final table, Betfair Poker will sponsor their entry to different poker tournaments for the next 3 years.
The Irish Poker Classic started that day with a $200 buy-in cost super satellite main event tournament with Eight Main event slots guaranteed.
The following day will be the ladies freeroll for a slot in the main event with the $380 No-Limit Texas Holdem poker tournament which will officially start the tournament series for the festival.
On June 1, 2007, the 3 day 1,500 main poker event began. The festival also hosted a $500 Omaha event on Saturday and a 2 day $500 No-Limit Hold'em poker tournament on Sunday.
