
The biggest stars in the Poker circuit will descend on SKYCITY this October. SKYCITY in Auckland is happy to announce that some of the most well-known poker players in the poker circuit will be participating in the biggest poker event in New Zealand this October. The 1st SKYCITY Festival of Poker will start from October 4th, 2008 to October 12th, 2008 and will aim to offer a $1 million cash pool, the biggest ever in New Zealand, with hundreds of players expected to enter the event.
Some of the poker players that already confirmed their participation include Joe, Hachem, Chris MoneyMaker, Greg Raymer, Lee Nelson, Grant Levy, Eric Assadourian, Emad Tahtouh and others. SKYCITY Auckland's Executive Manager of Table Games, Ejaaz Dean commented that the immense popularity of poker all over the world has taken its time to reach the country of New Zealand. He added that with the likes of Greg Raymer and Chris Moneymaker participating in the event of this scale will really help the popularity of poker in New Zealand.
Lee Nelson, a local poker player and a member of Team PokerStarsPro said that he is very happy to be able to participate in a local poker event in his own country and he expects that a lot of people will watch the event. The satellite events for entry into New Zealand's largest ever poker event are being held by casinos and pub poker leagues all over the country.
