Rodney Davidson Triumphs at the Australian Poker League

On July 22nd, 2007, a 31 year-old poker player with just $250 dollars in his savings has won $300,000 dollars after winning at one of the largest and richest poker tournament in the world.

Mr. Rodney Davidson's financial situation was so troubled that his car was in danger of being repossessed by creditors when he became the champion of the Australian Poker League held at Luna Park. Rodney Davidson, who began playing poker almost two years ago at an acquaintance's house, defeated 230 players to capture the Australian Poker League Title.

Rodney Davidson, a resident of Bega commented that you will never know what will happen next in a poker tournament until the whole thing is over. He added that a player can be at the top at the moment but might be at the bottom the next time around.

Rodney Davidson said that he plans to invest some of his winnings in real estate. Hundreds of poker enthusiasts watched the tournament, which had a cash pool of $1,000,000 million dollars.

Singer Shannon Noll performed at the event. Noll is the new face of the APL. The event attracted poker players from all over Australia. Willie Mason is one of the 800 guests that evening.

The tournament was played against ongoing criticism of the gambling expansion in pubs and club in New South Wales.
