Results for the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic Main Event

On April 4, 2007, a very loud and supportive crowd was almost evenly divided in their support for their 2 local favorites who were fighting for the poker championship at the 2007 Foxwoods Poker Classic No-Limit Championship with a $10,000 buy-in cost.

First place was disputed by Raj Patel from Rocky Hill, CT and Paul Matteo from Plainville, CT. After hours of fighting for first place, Raj Pattel emerged as the winner of the tournament with Paul Matteo as his runner-up. Pattel took home $1,298,405 and an entry cost of about $25,000 at the World Poker Tour championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul Matteo began things as he went against Tony Bagels in the poker game, while holding K-three against the A-J of Cavezza. After that, Allen Kessler called an All-in with his A-TEN, Matteo then called with his A-eight. Unfortunately for him, Allen Kessler finished in 6th place.

On the other hand, Raj Pattel took a significant portion of Mr. Seth Berger's chip stack with J's which then left Berger in 5th place. Fred Goldberg from Hollywood, FL and Tony Cavezza from Huntington Station, NY, finished 4th and 3rd respectively.

Goldberg took home $233,918 in total prizes, while Cavezza took home a total of $370,370.

When the fight for the championship began, Pattel had a 2 to 1 chip advantage. Cavezza then kept the fight going and thought that he had an advantage which would allow him to double up when a flop at the K-thirty five to give him a good pair with a K-two. After having a 7 on the river, Cavezza called an all-in, but Pattel handed a 46 for the victory.
