Results of the 2007 Poker Masters Tournament

On May 13, 2007, poker pros Ben Grundy, Roland De Wolfe, Marc Goodwin, Ram Vaswani, Jan Olav Sjavik and online poker pro Peter Smyth fought it out in Heat 5.

At the next table, Thomas Bihl, Juha Helppi, Ben Roberts, Vicky Coren, Tony Guoga and online player Soren Bakfort fought it out in Heat 6.

Poker action started on Friday, May 11, 2007 in London with 6 online poker players in the 36 player tournament with some of the players coming from Europe and Asia.

Although it appeared that the odds were against them from the start, with Hendon members Barny and Ross Boatman, World Series of Poker bracelet champion Willie Tann and senior poker pro Thomas Wahlroos were among the players that played in the first 4 preliminary heats, 2 slots at the final table were taken by online satellite tournaments.

Welsh poker player, Steve Cordy, defeated Barny Boatman and Liam Flood among the other players in Heat 2, with fellow online player, Richard Collier, defeating Bengt Sonner and Ross Boatman to play in Heat 3 this Saturday.

Rounding out the players is Roy Brindley, who defeated Tann in Heat 1 and Swedish Poker Player William Thorsen, who placed in 13th place at the WSOP Main Event 2006, defeated Wahlroos in Heat 4.

The 6 player final table at the Riverside Studios is expected to be aired by the Sky Sports Network by the end of May 2007. The buy-in for the Poker Masters tournament was 7,500 euros. The winner of the event will take home a total of $120,000.
