The Las Vegas Strip used to a town that was built primarily to offer entertainment. Complimentary hotel rooms and food were given out freely in hopes of attracting high-rollers for the gaming tables. Over the past decade, the landscape of the Las Vegas Strip has changed dramatically. The Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino is trying to take advantage of the popularity of the game of poker and they are doing it in the form of gimmicky show. The Real Deal! will debut at the casino on October 14th, 2008. If the show is a success, it will be mainly because of its premise.
The show will bring top poker professionals together with real people who love poker through audience participation. Around ten poker professionals have signed up to compete in the poker event that drives the show. The audience will be able to interact with the players throughout the 90 minute tournament. Prizes will be given out and one very lucky audience member could win $1 million.
However, that cash prize is a long shot to ever happen. Each slot in the theatre will have a device for the audience member to interact with the poker players. Daniel Negreanu said that people who come to Las Vegas to enjoy poker but cannot play poker in the big leagues like the professional poker players can what it feels like with this show.
