The Quarterfinals of the National Heads-Up Poker Tournament of NBC

The Quarterfinal event for NBC's National Heads-Up Poker Championship happened on May 11th, 2008, as the remaining eight poker players try to win their respective divisions and advance to the next round.

The event is a two-hour segment, with one hour allotted for the Hearts and Diamonds brackets and another hour allotted to the Clubs and Spades brackets. Each participant in the poker tournament is assured of taking home $75,000 and those participants that will be able to reach the semifinals will take home $125,000. The members of the Hearts bracket are baseball legend Orel Hershiser and Andy Bloch.

A lot of people are talking about Hershiser because he was able to defeat poker greats Ted Forrest, Allen Cunningham and Freddy Deeb. The Diamonds Bracket will feature Huck Seed, who seems to on the roll for this year's event. He will be up against David Benyamine, who has improved his performance for this year's event after being eliminated from the second round of the event last year.

So far, Seed has edge out Jason Alexander, Brian Townsend and Michael Mizrachi while Benyamine has edge out Jennifer Harman, Barry Greenstein and Doyle Brunson. The remaining members of the Clubs Bracket are Jonathan Little and Chris Ferguson. Little was able to defeat Erik Seidel, Gabe Kaplan and Greg Raymer on his way to the quarterfinals. Ferguson was able to defeat John Juanda, Gavin Smith and Mike Matusow. The Spades Bracket sees Phil Ivey against Gus Hansen. The event will be shown in NBC on May 18th, 2008.
