PokerStars has released the schedule for the London stop of the European Poker Tour on August 13th, 2009 and with 16 different poker events is set to be the largest "Poker Festival" in EPT's six season history. Beginning on September 30th, 2009 until October 7th, 2009, the European London Poker Festival will feature the return of the 3-day 20,000 pounds High Roller poker event and the EPT London 5,000 pounds main event.
PokerStars will also include the 1st ever 2,000 pounds European 8-Game Championship, a 500 pounds eight-game event, a 1,000 pounds Pot Limit Omaha High-Low event, a 1,000 pounds No Limit Holdem 6-Max event and a 2,000 pounds Pot Limit Omaha poker event in a series of different preliminary tournaments. EPT founder John Duthie said that the PokerStars.com EPT London Poker Festival will feature a diverse mix of poker games and buy-ins to cater to the different groups of poker players possible.
Duthie said that this continues the programming shift that they have made for last season's European Poker Tour Grand Final where they tried to make the best possible opportunity for all their participants. Held in the past at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, this year's EPT London is moving to the London Hilton Metropole Hotel to accommodate the growing number of participants expected.
Last year, almost 600 players participated in the main event, which was won by Michael Martin of the United States. The Hilton will allow for two hundred more players and PokerStars estimates that the prize pool will grow to as much as 4 million pounds. Cash games will be held at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino and Hilton Metropole will play host to the single-table satellite games throughout the festival. PokerStars is currently running satellite events for the tournament.
