The NAPT Mohegan Sun $25,000 High-Roller Bounty Shootout

The 2010 NAPT Mohegan Sun $25,000 High-Roller Bounty Shootout took place on April 12th, 2010 with thirty-five players taking to the poker felt for action. The format called for six poker tables to be in play, with five them of being played six-handed and the other one five-handed. The field was packed with some of the biggest poker names in the circuit.

Those included were Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, Greg Raymer, Marcello Del Grosso, Barry Greenstein, Jason Mercier, Greg Debora and Anh Van Nguyen. Out of those seven Team PokerStars Pro members, only Mercier will be moving on to the final table, having outwitted Elijah Berg in the heads-up match to win his 1st ound. Along with those names, poker players like Faraz Jaka, Matt Glantz, Scott Seiver and Sorel Mizzi showed up to participate.

Out of that group only Jaka will be be playing at the final table on Tuesday. The 2010 NAPT Venetian Main Event champion Tom Marchese was also among the participants, but only for five minutes. Marchese decided to go all-in within a few card hands of "shuffle up and deal" against local player Luis Vasquez. Marchese held the A(hearts) K(diamonds) but had run into the A(diamonds) A(clubs) of Vasquez.

After board was run out 10(hearts) 4(clubs) 2(hearts) J(spades) 3(hearts), Marchese passed over the chips along with the $50,000 bounty chip and exited the event. Also in attendance was the winner of the NAPT Venetian High Roller Bounty Shootout Ashton Griffin. His K(spades) 9(hearts) was defeated by Greg Dyer's A(clubs) 8(spades) in the pre-flop. The final board read A(diamonds) J(diamonds) 8(diamonds) 4(spades) 2(diamonds) and there would be no back-to-back championships for Griffin.

Each bounty won earned a player $5,000 and for winning their first table, $60,000. That is unless the player is seated at Table 6 where it started with only five poker players. The champion of that table wouls take home $50,000.

Some of the players that have already moved on and will participate on Tuesday, complete with their prize money that they have won so far: Shawn Buchanan-$80,000($60,000 for table; $20,000 in bounties), Faraz Jaka-$75,000($60,000 for table; $15,000 in bounties), Jason Mercier-$75,000 ($60,000 for table; $15,000 in bounties), Sam Stein-$75,000 ($60,000 for table; $15,000 in bounties), Luis Vasquez-$70,000 ($50,000 for table; $20,000 in bounties) and Matt Glantz-$70,000 ($60,000 for table; $10,000 in bounties).

Jaka appeared at the NAPT Venetian High Roller Bounty Shootout final table back in February 2010 and finished in 5th lace. He took home $95,000 then and will be looking to do better this time around. Stein is coming off a 2nd place finish at the NSPT Venetian Main Event and continues to do well along this poker tournament circuit.

The 1st place prize money that is up for grabs is $350,000. The poker player who collects the most bounties will be given an entry into the next NAPT High Roller event, which has yet to be decided. As of now, Vasquez and Buchanan lead the pack with four each. Vasquez earned his share by sending home every other player at his table.
