On November 23rd, 2007, a lot of individuals already know that the Chinese people have a wealthy and in-depth gaming tradition but a lot of people may not know that gaming history does not include the game of poker. It used to be the situation but mainland China is slowly accepting the idea of the game of poker as the inaugural PokerStars APPT Macau Asian Poker tournament is fast approaching.
The co-founder of the APPT, Sara Lightmann said that they are both interested with the idea of showcasing the Asia Pacific Tour in Asia and they have decided to go in Macau to meet and study the local conditions. Over the past months, she had been in Manila, Singapore and Korea and she has seen the potential in these markets regarding poker.
Lightmann added that she thinks that poker will also be an in demand game for Chinese baccarat enthusiasts. Most Chinese games do not know how to play poker so they usually go directly to the baccarat tables where they are knowledgeable about the game.
Once the players are fully immersed in poker and the joy of trying to defeat your opponents instead of fighting against the casino, they are confident and optimistic that the game will capture the attention Chinese players like other countries all over the world. Both online poker and land-based poker's popularity has improved tremendously in the past few months. China will be joining the fun and enjoying what poker has to offer soon.
