The Carthage Chatterbox Chapter of the Red Hat Society and the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce are inviting the Red Hat Society chapters to Carthage on Tuesday, October 3rd, to play poker at the second annual poker run which will take place around the square.
Ginny Johnson, event planner from the Carthage Chamber Retail Committee stated, "We heard lots of wonderful feedback from these ladies last year that our businesses are some of the most friendly that they have encountered".
Visitors will convene for registration from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Baptist Church located on the northeast corner of the square. Lunch will be served by the end of the registration period, and as entertainment during that time, Rick Wisehart will grace the event with his stylized motorcycle for photo opportunities.
The poker run proper will begin at 1:00 p.m., and participating businesses will deal playing cards from a deck. The establishments taking part in the poker run will be distinguishable with balloons posted up front. 10 cards will have to be collected in the course of the afternoon and poker hands will be judged at 3:00 p.m.
The Hancock County Health Department will also be present at the poker run to give out health information and take blood pressure at the courthouse. Craft and produce vendors are also invited to set up within the gaming area.
