
On December 8th, 2007, the T.J. Martell Foundation announced that they will host their first ever Celebrity poker tournament to raise funds for the foundation on December 11th, 2007 at the Las Vegas Hilton. Several celebrities have already confirmed their participation and Robin Leach will serve as the host for the event.
The event will take place during the National Finals Rodeo week in Las Vegas, gathering the best of country music and rodeo stars to the poker table to raise cash for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research. Luke Bryan, Houston Hutto, Buddy Jewell and Charlie will also be competing in the event, which will have $50,000 in cash prizes.
Other participants will be Britt Bockius, Tracy Byrd, Rodney Carrington, Lee Greenwood, Justin McBride and Trent Willmon. The buy-in cost for the event is $500 plus the $40 registration cost. There will be re-buys and add-ons offered in the tournament as well.
All of the re-buys, add-on and extra profits from the tournament will be given to the T.J. Martell Foundation, which will helped research for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. The organization supports about eight hospitals in the United States. Slots for the tournament is only limited to 150 players and 120 of those players will have a part of the $50,000 cash prize.
