The Players Championship at the 2010 World Series of Poker

However, it is the poker pros that attract the most attention from poker enthusiasts watching the poker tournaments. Poker pro Doyle Brunson is one of those players that a lot of fans would pay to observe play poker. For those individuals watching the Poker Player's Championship on May 30th, 2010, Brunson is putting up quite a fight.

Currently, Brunson sits in 3rd place in the poker tournament. The Player's Championship is the first major event of the world series of poker. A $50,000 dollars buy-in cost is required to participate in the tournament and only 116 poker players entered. There are still 86 players remaining and still three days of the event that company different poker variations into a single event.

The current leader is Alexander Kostritsyn from Russia with 430,000 chips. Steve Zolotow sits in 2nd place with 420,000 chips and Brunson has 390,000 chips in 3rd place. Other poker pros that are at the top of the leader board include Huck Seed, John Cernuto and John Juanda.

The Casino Employees tournament started off the 2010 WSOP and out of 721 participants, only thirteen players remain. David Villegas from Las Puente, California has the overall chip lead. Kent Washington is in 2nd place and Yuta Motoyama is in 3rd place.
