PartyPoker.coms Womens World Open IV

Matchroom Sport and PartyPoker have announced the date for their yearly PartyPoker.com Women's World Open. The Women's World Open IV of PartyPoker.com will take place in London, England on March 23rd, 2010-March 24th, 2010 featuring twenty-four of the best poker players in the world.

Among those already confirmed to participate in the tournament are Team PartyPoker's Kara Scott, Women's World Open III winner Aisling Collins, Betfair pro Annette Obrestad and Women's World Open III runner-up Wooka Kim. Also scheduled to participate in the tournament are Shelley Rubenstein, Laurence Grondin, Maria Demetriou, Pippa Flanders, Christine Klecz, Stefanie Bergener and season two champion Soraya Homam.

The $3,000 buy-in will create a $72,000 cash pool for the tournament. The event's structure dictates that the top two poker players from each three deep-stacked eight handed heats carry their poker chips through to a six-handed final table.

A PartyPoker spokesperson said that last year, Aisling Collins proved that Great Britain has a lot of talented female poker player but the same thing can be said about Japanese female poker players like Wooka Kim. The spokesperson added that both will be excellent contenders for the championship this year and they also have made the chip stacks deeper.

Matchroom Sport director Eddie Hearn said that he is looking forward to the tournament since it has proved really popular with players, television viewers and TV broadcasters over the past three seasons. He added that as the game continues to evolve, they have made significant changes to their gaming formats that enables viewers to enjoy a deeper-stacked poker game where participants can really show their talent.

Commentary for the television broadcast will be provided by Jesse May, with presenting duties divided between Tatjana Pasilic and Kara Scott. Coverage of the tournament will first be shown on Five in the UK later this year and then will be shown internationally.
