On June 27th, 2008, at the final table showcased by 8th time bracelet winner Erik Seidel, it was a twenty-one year old German online poker phenomenon who won the event. Martin Klaser have taken his time on winning the Event #43, the $1,500 POT Limit Omaha Eight or Better Final table to win the WSOP bracelet and $216,211.
Klaser started the 3rd day behind Seidel and chip leader John Maren. But once the game started, it was Martin Klaser and Casey Kastle that have dominated the rest of the table, clearing the way for a final heads-up showdown between these two players. Before the start of the heads-up showdown, Klaser held a three to one chip which he put into good use, winning ten of the first twelve heads-up cash pots. He would win the thirteenth game as well. Kastle then called a cash pot sized raised from Martin Klaser to see a nine, nine, J flop. Kastle then moved in for his last 120,000 chips and Klaser chose to call.
By the time Klaser chose to call, Kastle knew immediately that his top pair will not work out. Klaser just need a Queen to seal the whole thing. Lady luck must have been in favor of Klaser since his queen of spades hit on his turn, handling Klaser the WSOP bracelet and the cash prize. Klaser is a part of the Full Tilt Pro team, making his debut on his live poker cash event.
Klaser earned his membership in the Full Tilt team by winning the Full Tilt Poker Million Euro Challenge in Germany. He defeated poker pros Gus Hansen and Chris Ferguson, winning 350,000 in the event.
