Kevin MacPhee Wins the European Poker Tour Berlin

Well-known PokerStars qualifier Kevin "ImaLuckSac" MacPhee finally made good on one of the poker opportunities that came his way on March 8th, 2010, winning the European Poker Tour (EPT) Berlin Crown.

The 29 year-old poker pro from Idaho defeated Finnish player Ilari Tahkokallio in the heads-up showdwon to win the biggest poker event in German history and its 1 million euros cash prize.

An online poker star that shattered the PokerStars record for most Tournament Leader Board points in April 2008, earning more than $100,000 in profits that months, MacPhee has previously participated in fifteen EPT events, winning PokerStars satellite events in order to participate in those events.

He was one of the 243 poker players who won their slots online to European Poker Tour Berlin but until now a huge win had eluded him. MacPhee said that winning an EPT event was one of his goals and he had worked very hard to fulfill that goal so he is very happy about his big win.

A total of 945 poker players from forty-eight countries participated in the 5,300 euros Main Event creating a total cash pool of 4,725,000 euros. EPT Berlin was interruped on the tournament's penultimate day when robbers stormed The registration area outside the gaming area at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

No one was seriously hurt and the armed robbers fled the scene after a guard intervened. The event resumed after a few hours and a police officers are continuing to investigate the case.

Next up for the European Poker Tour is the EPT Snowfest on March 21st, 2010-March 26th, 2010 in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria.
