On June 25th, 2008, poker player John Phan, won his 2nd WSOP bracelet after winning at the 2008 world series of poker Event #40, a $2,500 buy-in cost Triple Draw. The final table for the poker event was full of poker players that are considered to be elites like poker author David Sklansky, Robert Mizrachi, Ben Ponzio, Shun Uchida and Gioi Luong.
Phan commented that he does not really expect to win a World Series of Poker bracelet but he is really happy that he was able to accomplished such difficult tasks not only once but twice. When the game play came down to 3 handed, Luong made an attempt to get one of his cards but Phan decided to call for the floor. The floor decided that the original set of 3 cards were to be set aside, which Phan was very happy with the decision.
Phan said that Luong just takes a lot of shots and it does not really matter if he is up against him because he intends to protect any poker player at the final table in that situation. He believes that karma plays a big part in poker. That karma may have been on the side of Phan because Luong finished in 3rd place and Phan won the event, taking home the championship bracelet and $151,896.
Phan won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet in Event#29, a $3000 buy-in cost No Limit Holdem Poker Tournament, taking home $434,789.
