On May 18, 2007, it was announced that poker Pro Joe Hachem would be heading the membership efforts of the World Poker Association (WPA) and join their board of directors at the same time.
Poker Pro Joe Hachem, the Australian poker player who won the 2005 WSOP, will be joining the World Poker Association's Board of Directors as a Secretary of the organization. Hachem will be the WPA's main spokesperson during membership activity at the 2007 WSOP Main Event tournament.
Since triumphing at the WSOP, Hachem has been making a name for himself on the poker circuit. Hachem said that he is pleased to take part in the endeavors of the WPA. Hachem claims that hosting a booth at the 2007 WSOP is a major step in helping the WPA increase its membership.
Interested individuals can just go to the WPA booth where he and his co-players will be more than willing to answer any questions. Each official member of the WPA is tasked to uphold the ethical procedures and standards of conduct at every poker game.
The WPA is comprised of the Ethics and Conduct committee, the Annual Conference Committee, the International Committee, the Dealer Relations Rules Committee, the Government Relations Committee and the Charity Committee.
The cost is $50 for a voting member, $25 for a non-voting member and $1,000 to be a founding member. The WPA was founded by Jesse Jones. The officers of the WPA are Wendeen Eolis, Joe Hachem, Harry Thomas, Chris Bigler, Warren Karp, Lou Krieger, Marcel Luske and Annie Van Berber.
